SideDroid
For Mac and Android

Your Android device is a second screen now.

SideDroid turns an Android device into an extra display for your Mac. Plug it in and the screen extends. Unplug it and SideDroid carries on over Wi‑Fi.

Mac window + Android device
How it works

Three steps, and you only do the first.

A menu bar app on the Mac watches for your device. It adds a virtual display, streams it with the Mac's hardware encoder, and sends your touches back as clicks.

Step 1

Plug it in

Connect the device over USB with USB debugging allowed. That's the only setup.

Step 2

The screen extends

A new display appears in macOS. Drag windows onto it like any monitor.

Step 3

Unplug, keep going

SideDroid learned the device's Wi‑Fi address while it was plugged in, so it reconnects over the network.

Touch

Touch the Mac, on the device.

Touches travel back over the same cable or network and become mouse input on the Mac.

Tap

to click.

Drag

to drag windows, select text and move sliders.

Two fingers

to scroll.

1800×1080Default display size, matched to a 1080p hardware decoder
8 MbpsDefault bitrate over Wi‑Fi, adjustable in Settings
27183Video port, forwarded over adb. Touch comes back on 27184
5555adb over Wi‑Fi port, switched on while you're plugged in

Give the device in your drawer a job.

An old Android device makes a good second screen for notes, chat or a music player. SideDroid sets it up the moment you plug it in.
